Case study
Futurebuild: Capturing sustainability conversations on the ground
Delivering onsite press office support, interviews and real-time content
The challenge
Futurebuild is the UK's longest running sustainability focused exhibition and conference in the built environment, held annually at Excel London.
The show was recently acquired by publishing group Media10. Strategically co-located with UK Construction Week London and the Stone & Surfaces Show to create one super event, the 2026 installment (12-14 May) brought the built environment together in a more connected way - generating buzz in the lead up to the event and driving footfall topping 20,000 attendees across the three days.
From a communications perspective, the challenge was sentiment and message control following the merger mid-campaign. Specifically ensuring Futurebuild’s identity as a purposeful platform for driving change in the space wasn’t diluted.
Content & activation
Hattrick ran the press office for Futurebuild, starting with media relations in the lead up to the event and delivering a live on-site presence for the full three days.
Press releases were drafted and distributed before and throughout the event to keep momentum going. The team ran live social media coverage and created content in real time, alongside filming video interviews with an assigned crew on the show floor.
One highlight was securing and coordinating exhibitor interviews with the host of The Wall Street Journal podcast. Another proof point of Futurebuild’s credibility as a go-to for trusted insight on sustainable sector developments.
