A milestone launch for Impact Reporting

Share

Measuring the real impact of social value is a real challenge for organisations.

This particularly applies to more intangible benefits like community wellbeing, environmental impact or societal contributions.

Our client, Impact Reporting is tackling this issue head-on with their groundbreaking tool, MeasureUp. Created and launched in partnership with State of Life and PRD, they’re looking to demystify this process and promote transparency.

A systemic shift

MeasureUp represents a seismic shift in the social value landscape by offering organisations free access to comprehensive social valuation data and methodologies - something traditionally locked behind expensive paywalls.

The platform allows businesses to evaluate and benchmark a wide range of activities - transforming the process from estimation to evidence.

It is built on the WELLBY methodology and aligned with key frameworks like the ONS 10 Dimensions of Wellbeing, the UK Government Green Book guidance, and the Sustainable Development Goals.

"MeasureUp is about helping organisations move from merely counting outputs to measuring the true outcomes of their initiatives.” - Matt Haworth, Co-founder of Impact Reporting.

Actionable insights

The values provided by MeasureUp deliver actionable insights. For example:

  • Good mental health is shown to be twice as valuable as physical health in terms of societal benefit.

  • Volunteering generates half the wellbeing impact of regular physical activity—but both contribute significantly to overall value.

By providing this level of granularity, MeasureUp encourages organisations to embrace less conventional yet impactful initiatives, such as improving access to green spaces or fostering youth engagement.

Progress over perfection

One of the most impressive aspects of MeasureUp is its commitment to transparency. By making their framework freely available, the team is actively challenging the status quo of proprietary data in the social value sector.

"This is just the beginning," says Catherine Manning, Head of Impact Practice at Impact Reporting and Programme Director for MeasureUp. “Social value valuation practice is still in its infancy, and we’re inviting feedback from the community to refine and enhance this resource.”

Why this matters now

With stricter procurement regulations on the horizon, businesses are under increasing pressure to substantiate their social and environmental claims. MeasureUp is a pragmatic solution that provides organisations with the tools to demonstrate their contributions credibly and effectively.

Hattrick is delighted to have played a role in amplifying this message. By supporting the launch of MeasureUp, we’re helping to empower businesses to not only comply with new regulations but also lead with purpose and authenticity in a rapidly changing world.
